Safety Information PDF Print E-mail

It is all too easy to become complacent about safety during the operation of all-terrain vehicles so we impress upon all our customers the importance of wearing a fully fastened seat belt at all times.

Your buggy or utility vehicle will provide you with many years of service and fun providing you take your own safety seriously and understand the challenges you may meet while driving.

We consider the following as a few recommendations of most importance:

Always wear a helmet
  • Wearing a helmet significantly reduces the number and severity of head injuries.
  • Ensure the helmet you use is ACU approved
Always wear the seat belt provided on your vehicle

Driver and passenger protection

  • We recommend the use of eye protection (goggles), sturdy boots, gloves and clothing that provides suitable protection.

Driving off road

  • All our buggies are designed for off-road use only.
Take the time to learn and practice. Familiarise yourself with the way your buggy handles, its braking capability and get accustomed to its size and weight. Carelessness can result in serious injuries.
  • Be aware of off-road hazards
Different types of terrain can present a variety of challenges. Be constantly aware of the terrain in front of you while operating the vehicle. Unexpected turns, drop-offs, rocks and ruts can all be hazards. Keep your speed low and allow enough time to react to hazards.
  • Drive within your limits
Pushing the limit of your ability can be a major cause of off road accidents. Never drive beyond your personal abilities or faster than conditions warrant. Remember that even tiredness can impair your judgement
  • Do not drink and drive.
Drinking alcohol will impair your judgement. Be responsible and don’t let your friends drink and drive either.
  • Do not run the engine indoors
The exhaust gases from your engine contain a tasteless, odourless and poisonous gas called carbon monoxide.
  • Keep away from the moving parts of your vehicle
Keep your hands or any part of your body away from any moving parts of the engine. Failure to do so can result in harm to your body.
  • Slipping and sliding
The surface of the terrain that the vehicle is driven on can affect its turning ability and cause it to skid and for the driver to loose control.

All Joyner vehicles should be driven with care with careful attention to the conditions and terrain in hand.

Before operating your vehicle please familiarise yourself with the owner’s manual and pay attention to the regular pre-ride checks detailed in your manual.
